Wish kid gets a fun and exciting wish and a colorful paint job on his face!!!

We all know the importance of a kid being a kid, but Nicholas certainly expresses it well with a big smile and splashes of color. Make-A-Wish's mission is to grant wishes to children with life threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.

Nicholas is an adorable, bright, five-year-old little guy. When Make-A-Wish talked to Nicholas and his family, the ideal wish that came to mind was a spa. He loves to play in water and to swim. The other things that he really likes are to watch football and to listen to music.

This delightful little guy struggles with a genetic muscle disorder, but he doesn't let that get in his way. When not in the water, he stays busy swinging, kicked back watching T.V. or looking over a great carton book. By the way, he also loves ice cream.

Nicholas is a part of a big wish family. His older sister, Megan, was also a wish child and she selected a camper so the entire family could go camping together and older brother, Matthew, got a wish to travel to Disney; all three children live with the same medical condition. After Megan's wish, her parents, Jill and Chris, joined in the extended family by becoming wish granters. Now mom gets to see the magic and the joy as a wish unfolds and the smiles that it brings to other wish kids' faces, probably minus the colorful paint job. Nicholas' wish was made possible through the generosity of The Ross Foundation.

About Us

How It All Began

In 1980, Chris Greicius was a 7-year-old boy being treated for leukemia. Whenever he saw a police officer, he saw everything he wanted to be. Law enforcement officers heard about Chris' wish to be a police officer and responded to the call. A police helicopter flew him to headquarters for a tour, a ride in a patrol car and a ceremony making him the first-ever honorary state patrolman in Arizona history. They also presented him a custom-tailored uniform, motorcycle helmet, campaign hat and the motorcycle wings he earned on his own battery-powered bike. Many of those responsible for fulfilling Chris' wish wanted to do the same for other children with life-threatening medical conditions and founded the Make-A-Wish Foundation® in November 1980 .
